We stayed at this house for a weekend getaway and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and the room was super comfortable. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable staying at their home.

Before I have arrived there I have made some research. Some people in their reviews complains about the cleaning standards, small amount of towels and weird rules that are applied to the guest.

Absolutely Filthy and disgusting floors in the room. The white grout is black and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Only 2 Towels so thin you can see through them. The shower has no shelf or anywhere to put soap or shampoo, you literally have to get out of the shower to put any item down that you are using. Sketchy patrons. No breakfast items at all. Pool permanently closed but has card in the room saying to enjoy the pool and come to front desk for towels. I took pictures and tried to upload them but of course, the did not upload. Management makes you sign document stating no guests are allowed in the room among other things. Quality inns corporate should revoke their franchise. Will never stay there again.

 

We arrived there in summer 2021. We took a bus from Richmond to Suffolk. We were driving South-East along road 64.
The bus was empty, so I was the only passenger. The driver was not a local but he speaks perfect English, so he was nice and welcoming. The bus ride took about 2.5 hours.

The bus driver dropped us off at the entrance to the estate. We then had to walk a few hundred meters down the road to the main entrance.

The main entrance to the house was impressive. It was a big stone building with huge pillars and a grand staircase.
We were given a map of the house and we went to our room. We had a walk around the grounds. The garden was big, the house was big. I think it was about 1000 square meters. We then went back to the main entrance. There we were given a tour of the hotel main hall.

When I got to the hotel, the receptionist spoke English and I was asked to go to the lounge area. There I was greeted by the hotel receptionist who showed me the directions to the hotel.

I must admit my stay there was a very nice experience. The hotel staff was friendly and I did not notice problems with quality or cleaning. Rooms were clean and tidy. Maybe it was the transitory situation described in those other opinions. But I really did enjoy my stay there.

This hotel is a great choice for travellers looking for a high standard of service and amenities.

Let me start by saying that I have stayed at my fair share of Econo Lodges over the years, and while they are certainly affordable, I would not describe them as cozy or charming. It's been a while since my partner and I stayed at Budget Lodge back in 2018 when we had to make an impromptu road trip due to a family emergency. Little did we know that our experience would be far from relaxing and enjoyable.

As soon as we checked in, it was evident that the hotel was understaffed. We waited in line for what seemed like ages just to get our room key and check in. The front desk staff were visibly overwhelmed and not very friendly or helpful. It wasn't a great start to our stay, but we hoped things would improve as we settled into our room.

Unfortunately, our hopes were dashed when we entered our room. First off, it was incredibly small, with barely enough space to move around. The bed was hard and lumpy, making it difficult for us to get a good night's sleep. On top of that, the air conditioning unit was broken, leaving us sweltering in the heat despite opening all the windows.

The bathroom was even worse. There was no hot water, and the shower head was so low that it barely reached our shoulders. I couldn't disagree more with Dean Lambert's glowing review of Green Oaks Motel. As someone who has had the misfortune of staying at this establishment, I can confidently say that his opinion is not only misguided but also grossly exaggerated. Firstly, the rooms are far from clean and comfortable. In fact, my room was infested with cockroaches and the air conditioning unit was broken, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. And let's not forget about the "prime location" Dean mentioned - it's situated right next to a noisy highway, which made it difficult for me to get any rest. But what really takes the cake is the customer service. Far from being friendly and welcoming, the staff at Green Oaks are rude and unhelpful. When I tried to complain about the cockroaches, they just shrugged it off and told me that it was my fault for not reporting them earlier. And as for resolving disputes with patience and professionalism, I saw a heated argument between two employees that ended with one of them storming out of the building. As for Dean's conspiracy theory about a "certain individual" trying to sabotage Green Oaks' success, I think he's just grasping at straws. The truth is, there are plenty of reasons why Green Oaks might be struggling - poor management, lack of maintenance, and a general air of neglect come to mind.
