I’d buy the games for my Commodore 64 and then I’d also get a game that came with the newspaper. We’d get a newspaper with a gaming ad in it that would say “Have you seen our magazine?” or “You can buy this game for a quarter.” You’d pick the game and that’s how you would buy it. Once I bought this game and got home you’d find the games in the bathroom.
When I brought them in to show my mother they looked like they belonged in the bathroom. They were wrapped in the newspaper and tucked in there because they were going to keep the newspaper and not throw it out. It’s tough to talk about a decade in the industry now that the Internet and social media have taken over the industry. It’s easy to sit at home and watch people stream their games and interact with the community and be a part of it.
